I am Jennifer Horn, Certified Journeyman Farrier and artistic Blacksmith. I have been serving the northern Michigan horse owner community since 1992. In addition to my career as a horseshoer I’m also a creative Artist-Blacksmith. The skills I have employed in my horseshoeing business have allowed me to branch into artistic blacksmithing where I enjoy working with hot steel to create fun, beautiful and functional works for many clients, my family and my friends.
For nearly 17 years I lived at Rosedale Farm, Dafter, Michigan where I managed Rosedale Stables, a 200 acre horse boarding facility. I purchased another home, in 2011, on only 10.5 acres about 4 miles from the farm. The horse boarding business is behind me and now I have downsized to a smaller home on less property. This allows me more time to travel nationally and internationally as part of my Farrier career. No more worries about farm chores while I’m away from home. This new ‘freedom’ also allows me to pursue the creative blacksmithing passion that I have.
I have been an active member of the Executive Board of the Michigan Horseshoers Association for many years. For over 10 years I served as the Association Secretary and co-chair of the Michigan Horseshoers’ Annual Contest and Clinic held the first week of January every year. 2014 will be the 45th year for the MHA and it’s Annual Contest and Clinic.
As a founding member I was also on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Professional Farriers. The AAPF was created to promote the integrity of the farrier industry and strengthen the knowledge and skills of its members through continuing education and support at the state, national and international levels while improving overall equine health through collaboration with other industry professionals. I’m very proud to be able to say that I am a founding member of this organization. I believe in continuing education and the benefit it brings to the Farrier and their clients.
On a community level I am a mentor for the local 4-H club where I enjoy spending time with the local kids (and other volunteer parents) passing on skills and knowledge of horsemanship.
Whether your horse needs trimming or shoeing I will provide service of the highest quality and you can be assured that the health of your animal is always my number one goal. I have the services that you need at prices you can afford. My goal is to provide you with courteous, expedient, professional service of the highest caliber.
